This image shows Young Persons Officer, PC Paul Emms working alongside youngsters as part of a filming project. Officers from the Birmingham North policing unit donated more than £3,000 to the project through the Proceeds of Crime Act. This see’s money seized from criminal activity pumped back into local communities. Castle Vale Community Regeneration Services (CVCRS) have been working with young people to create, star and direct a short film based on the affects of anti-social behaviour. Youngsters received drama lessons from a professional company and were also taught filming techniques, set photography and scripting skills. Jonathan Davies, Children and Young People’s Manager from CVCRS said: “We work closely with youngsters to show them how their behaviour can be perceived, and how it can be improved. We have also given them an opportunity to build new skills, whether in front of the camera or by helping with directing or editing. PC Paul Emms said: “This project has given youngsters a real insight into the impact and consequences of both crime and anti-social behaviour. Important team working skills have also been gained by all involved and the professional training received could really help future employment opportunities.” The film will edited shortly and once complete, will be premiered at local schools and youth centres across north Birmingham. |
